Love the concept, but the UX could be better
Paulina O.· Review provided by hatch.co · July 5, 2024
Overall, I really love the concept, and I believe the things I struggle with will eventually become easier to get accustomed to. The thing I hate the most is how DIFFICULT it is to turn on the clock. I have to tap all over the device a thousand times before I get it to turn on. The other two features (brightness and volume) work perfectly.
I also don't like that, in order to "wake up," I have to first turn off the alarm, have the lights go off as a consequence, and then click on something else to get the lights back on and start my morning routine. I don't like the light interruption. It would be better to just click on something to wake up and keep the light on.
I also don't like the fact that the light goes off again once the routine is over (which usually lasts 2 minutes). If I don't get up within those 2 minutes, it gets completely dark again. Why can't the light stay on?
I generally wish there was a button just to turn the light on or off, to use it as a lamp as well as a clock.
I've been using the device for over a week now, and I still haven't found what works for me. I find myself looking for new things every night instead of sticking to the same sounds. But that doesn't necessarily bother me.
[Rewarded Review] Complete waste of money and overly complicated.

This alarm clock plays brown noise which is helpful, but there are zero wake-up sounds that actually wake me up. Everything is soothing and relaxing and lulls me back to sleep. The one energizing playlist they have is EDM music with a terrifying DJ voice that would startle me awake in a horrible way. It’s not that difficult to build a sound machine, and alarm clock that both puts people to sleep and adequately wakes them up. The entire machine also feels cheaply made for the price. For example. I have the clock face set to show up when tapped and i have to do so at least 5 times. It also feels like light-weight cheaply made plastic. Not to mention it’s $5 a month for more sound options…. What sound options? Still slim picking and for the price it should be possible to upload different sounds/music. Don’t love that it also needs wifi to function properly.

Extremely disappointed and will be looking for an alternative. There’s no reason this unit should be more than $40.
You NEED this!!!

I was riding the struggle bus when it came to my sleep. I was getting maybe 4-5 hours of sleep, it was taking 2-4 hours to fall asleep every night, and I had to take melatonin every single night to fall asleep. I honestly was not convinced that my Restore 2 was going to help me fall asleep but I was desperate. The very first morning I woke up easier then I had in over a year and over the course of the last few weeks I've developed a better nighttime routine. I put my phone away during my "unwind" time and take time to relax and journal and then once my "sleep" sounds come on I close my eyes and drift off pretty quickly. My sunrise alarm is just as wonderful. I wake up to a beautiful natural sunrise which is much needed during Daylight Savings Time and my "morning moment" is birds chirping. I'm not sure I could have asked for a better way to wake up. It gives me time to adjust from the darkness to being able to turn the lights on in the morning. I'm sleeping more consistently, I'm getting at least 7+ hours of sleep a night, I'm falling asleep so much faster, developing a great routine which has helped me feel more relaxed, and I no longer dread getting out of bed in the morning.
Is it expensive? Yes, but if you value your sleep then it's an investment I would encourage you to make.
Love except premium library

I love the Hatch and the sounds while sleeping have been a big help. One reason I decided to purchase this particular brand was because of the premium subscription having meditations. I used a different app before but was not able to listen to them on anything other than headphones. I had such high hopes. The selections on the library are slim and very few meditations to choose from. Biggest gripe is that you can’t add a whole series when adding meditations to your nighttime routine. All I can get is one part of the meditation that is 5 minutes long. Which is not enough to relax me enough to sleep. I did contact support, they responded quickly but it’s something they said would be passed along and taken into consideration. Just disappointing after the amount of money that it costs + the subscription which made it seem like there would be lots of meditations to chose from.
