doubled water intake because of Owala FreeSip
Solveig Marika· Review provided by REI · September 10, 2024
Hands down best water bottle and I’ve tried them all. I now own 3 of these Owala FreeSip water bottles and I use them every day. If the goal is to drink more water then this is the water bottle that will make that happen. Because the sip is has a wide mouth/opening and a thick straw inside the bottle, it’s super easy to drink 2 or 3 of these just at work alone. Every time I see someone with one of these bottles, I ask them how it’s affected their water intake and I get the same super enthusiastic answer from them: It’s doubled or tripled their water intake. Excellent quality, super cute, but most of all it fulfills its mission: to get more water intake which improves health. this 24 of oz bottle fits in my car console cup holder as well as the door cupholder—the bigger size does not fit. Also keeps my water cold for a long time—keeps ice for 24 hours in moderate conditions. ***wishlist: a lightweight non-vacuum version in a larger size that still fits in my car console cup holder ***
not all it’s cracked up to be

short explanation: opens slowly, sometimes not at all. gets dirty quickly and easily and that dirt is hard to clean off. ice melts pretty quickly but it is still cold even with the melted ice.

longer explaination: i bought this water bottle a bit over a month ago. it was good at first, i enjoyed drinking from it. i liked the cute colors of the bottle, the dual sip feature, and how there was a cover to the straw because i hate when my straws are exposed to the public air.

as time went on, the owala stopped opening as fast when i pushed the button. sometimes the lid wouldn’t open at all and i would have to push it up myself. so i took a star off for that aspect. this happened like 2.5 weeks into using the bottle.

also, the owala gets very dirty very quickly and easily. i brought my water bottle to school, as most do, and i even kept in inside my backpack not touching anything but my lunch bag. i pulled the bottle out to drink from it and like 2 minutes later, there was already dirty on the lid. not as much as what is shown in the picture but there was still a lot. it was weird. and my hands weren’t grubby or anything like that. the dirt seen in the picture just appeared on my water bottle one day. i literally did nothing but there was this big spot of dirt on it. and i purposely keep my water bottle inside my backpack and not in the water bottle holder on the side so that it can prevent getting dirty (although clearly it doesn’t matter). not only does the bottle get dirty very easily, but it is difficult to get the dirt/stains out because of the material the top is made of. so no matter how hard i scrub, there’s always a little bit of dirt on the top that just won’t come off.

finally, the ice melts pretty quickly. i fill my water bottle up at home and by lunch (which is like 4 hours later) the ice is melted or very close to being completely gone. the water is still cold though, so i do give it props for that.

in conclusion, i bought this water bottle because i saw it on tiktok and i thought it would be a good experience but it wasn’t. i was disappointed and i gave it a try and now it’s too late to get a refund. maybe i got a defective bottle but idk whatever. i just wanted to share my honest, real experience so that others know that the owala is not worth the hype.
Poor quality and customer service—won’t stand behind warranty

Save yourself the money—not only is this not worth the $30+ dollars, the company also refuses to stand by its “lifetime warranty.” We purchased this water bottle to be used in a classroom setting. We used it for less than a week and the top holder (which holds on the lid) snapped off. It wasn’t dropped or used inappropriately—which the company sited as being the reason behind this manufacturer malfunction. Not the fact that this is just cheaply made. Their support team is a joke. So, if you’re looking at this because you think it’s high quality and that the company will stand behind the product, you should go elsewhere. I have had better customer service at Target and Walmart. We will never be using this company again and I encourage you to do the same—unless you’re comfortable with shelling out $30 every week for a new water bottle.
Poor quality
Kat· Review provided by Target · September 12, 2024
Cute bottle but awful quality. The lid cracked within 2 weeks of using it. (Like so many other reviewers so clearly this is an ongoing issue.) I reached out to customer service and they won’t even send me a replacement top and instead said I can purchase it since it’s not covered under warranty from a fall. We have had several other brand water bottles over the years that have been through repeated drops but have never had anything crack like this until we got Owala. The only reason we switched to this brand is because it’s “trending” and it’s what my kids wanted. Unfortunately this brand does not compare in quality to Stanley, hydro flask and all the other water bottles collecting in our cabinets that will probably actually last a lifetime. Disappointed in Owala customer service and the fact that they can’t stand behind their crappy lids.
